How has the first month of 2016 already come and gone? In some ways it feels like January just started yesterday; but, at the same time, it seems as if this has been an endless month. Even though I can’t really make up my mind about how I feel about this strange, distorted issue of time, I can certainly say that this month has been full of so many beautiful moments and memories–here’s a recap of some of my favorites.
Life
My 2016 had the perfect start–a trip to the mountains with my very best friend. Even if we’ve only been dating for six months, I cannot imagine my life without this handsome guy backing me up. He inspires me to become a better me each and every day. I laugh longer, love stronger, and work harder because of his support and encouragement. Life with him has become my favorite adventure, and I can’t wait to see where this new year takes us…and all the years after that. 😉

Travel
If you’ve spent any time on the blog, it’s easy to see that I am in love with traveling. Starting the year off with a trip to the mountains put me in a great mindset for the rest of the year. I used to be a bit bitter that I’m not able to participate in semester-long ventures abroad, but I’ve learned to be content with the path I’ve chosen. I might not take off on exotic expats for months at a time; however, I’ve found so many of my own adventures in my everyday life. Though, I will admit that I’ve been busy planning for my upcoming month abroad in the UK….
Why You Should Study Abroad Your Freshman Year was certainly my favorite travel-inspired post this month.
College
First off, my school is the absolute best, so ignore the fact that most people have never heard of my little university. Over the past three semesters, I have come to call Wayland my true home. It’s where some of my best friends live–my roommate and professors included. Really, not many people get the chance to attend a university where professors and staff become family, and I’m so blessed to have so many encouraging and inspiring people in my life. I’ve found a place where people have allowed me to nurture and feed my academic flame. Sometimes I don’t want my time here to ever end….
This month I shared a bit of my own college knowledge in my posts Five Things To Do The Week Before Classes Start and Five Things To Do After Syllabus Week.
Life Part Two // AKA Career Life
Last semester I started my beloved job as a writing tutor, and this semester has brought my second office-type job as a content writer into the picture. Maybe I’m working a rather insane amount of time for an undergraduate with an intensive course load; but, I love being a busy, working girl. First off, my two jobs will be fantastic resume boosters. Secondly, I truly love using my skills as an English major to be productive and to support myself. Hard work is often a lost cause when it comes to my generation, which is perhaps why so many people keep telling me to slow down and be a kid. However, I’m not a child anymore–I’m a young adult will career goals that I’m willing to work for. Future professorship, here I come!
The working life has made me take blogging much more seriously, so here are Five Lies About Lifestyle Blogging Debunked!
Life Part Three // Unnecessary Sorrow…?
Now for my favorite bittersweet memory, since I’m really not sure where this fits in… My roommate and I just finished The Office. Somehow I feel as if I’m leaving a part of my life behind in January. After all, the show has been our obsession for over a semester and a half… We have yelled at Michael, cried with Pam, laughed with Jim, and grown strangely attached to Dwight and his beet farm. Who knew that you could become so emotionally invested in a mock documentary about a dysfunctional paper office…. I never thought it would end, and now I’m so sad that it’s over. Still, these past few months of watching the show has actually taught me a lot about life.
What are your favorite shows to watch? My roommate and a need a rebound show to help aid in our recovery.
It sounds like you had an awesome month!

I love traveling, too! My goal this year is to take 12 trips, so, one a month! I was well on my way last year but missed the mark by two 😦 although, if you do travel a lot, those frequent flier miles add up quickly!
