Moments and Memories // February Recap

January Recap.png

February may be the shortest month of the year, but I won’t be surprised if it turns out to have been one of my busiest. I’ll be the first person to admit that this month has been a struggle–finding my favorite moments and memories took a bit of work in some cases, because I felt like all I did was sit at a desk and work/study for the past 29 days. It’s not all that thrilling to be a working college student. However, while it’s easy to get caught up in the rush of life, these end of the month posts make me realize just how precious life can be. Perhaps most of my month was spent sitting at a desk, but I still managed to have wonderful adventures with some of my favorite people….

Life

Even though I’m an introvert, I’m never happy with things unless my schedule is overflowing with work, class, and to-do lists. Maybe it’s a productivity thing, but either way, being busy has become a prominent feature of my life. Still, it’s important to take some “chill” time, which is something I’ve had to work on this month. It’s easy to fall into my schedule and to forget that hanging out with friends is something college students do. I guess that’s why my weekend shopping trip with my roommate was probably one of my favorite moments of February–old records and vintage-inspired clothes? Yes, please!

Travel

February has been my “travel planning” month; though, I certainly didn’t plan on Chantry traveling nine hours just to surprise me for Valentine’s weekend. As I’ve said before, life with him is always an adventure, and we had a grand time exploring all the local antique shops. It’s so true that you don’t have to travel somewhere foreign to create wonderful memories–there’s a whole world of adventures wherever you go!

College

In last month’s recap, I talked about how much I love school. That hasn’t changed, because learning and gaining knowledge is one of my greatest passions. However, there’s a huge flip-side to that perspective. College also sucks. Majorly. Many people seem to “get” that college can be a stressful season of life; however, what many people don’t seem to realize is that college students stress because they care. I know, at least for myself, a large part of my struggles with anxiety come from my fear of failure–a deep seated fear of not being perfect. Let me tell you, it has been a huge struggle this month…

This led to a much needed collaboration post in which several college bloggers offered their best self-care tips for Dealing with Mental Illnesses while in College.

Life // Creativity

One of my goals for 2016 is to be more creative in my daily life. This was something I attempted in February with a hand lettering challenge… Sadly this “All of Me Loves All of You” project was the only thing I managed to do. However, I will certainly say that I’ve allowed myself to become more creative about blogging and to not let fear of judgement hold me back quite so much. After all, being creative is all about stepping outside the box.

Are you an introverted creative? If so, you know the struggle is real, which is something I talk about in Confessions of an Introverted Blogger. Funny thing– I was terrified to publish this post, but it quickly became my most popular post in February.

Life // AKA Career Life

I love working almost as much as I love school–it’s another passion. As I said, I really cannot sit still. Working hard is satisfying in and of itself; however, it’s even more satisfying to be working with something you love. For me, that means helping teach others learn how to become better writers while also working to improve my own writing skills. While I love working, sometimes I feel as if I’m faking adulthood. To be honest, I have no idea what I’m doing half that time.

This determination to fake it ’till I make it inspired my absolute favorite post for February: Why I Wear Heels To Work.
